Adoption truth

Moody here...my dear wife is pooped! Thought she would experiment with half an ambien....it worked! Bless her heart, she's not feeling great. Prayerfully a good night's rest will help. With the last week of summer at the office and football starting with the boys, she has performed miracles around this place getting us ready...without a lot of help from me! Please pray with me that she will be completely well before we leave. Did I mention we leave in 36 hours!!

With only me and Bob Costas up this late, I have been reflecting on the powerful truth of adoption, both Abe's and ours. Our Sunday worship bulletin recently listed a portion of Chapter 12 of the Westminster Confession on adoption. "the grace of adoption, by which we are taken into the number, to enjoy the liberties and privileges of the children of God...have access to the throne of grace with boldness, are able to cry Abba Father, are pitied, protected, provide for and chastened by a father" To think that because of Christ and His sacrificial death I can now be in a relationship with God Almighty, the maker of heaven and earth. This journey to bring Abe home has brought this truth of adoption deep to my soul like never before. As Abe is grafted into the Alexander family to be "pitied, protected and provided for", may his life always serve as a great reminder of the grace of adoption the Heavenly Father has shown us.

A special thanks to Pastor Jeremy and our church family at APC. Through their bags of donations, gifts of cash, prayer send off this week, shared tears of joy, Emily and I have seen the Body caring for its own.

And a special thank you to each of you for loving my wife, caring for and encouraging her though this divine journey we have been on.

Soli Deo Gloria ( for the Glory of God alone)

Emily, We are praying for you. I hope you feel better. Eliza and I wake up saying... "The Alexanders have 2 days until they go and get him." Moody's post was beautiful. We will keep you in our prayers. I wish I could help you more.

Well, I too was up--still in the full effect of "China Syndrome". This glorious privilege we have of living out "adoption" is such rich blessing. Thank you for giving Nanny & Bunty the glorious opportunity to participate in the journey, start to finish!

With so much love,
Nanny

Ok Moody - awesome post! I love your bride so much. I don't know exactly why she's not feeling well but if it's nerves I know it too well! I felt like I was going to throw up for days leading up to the trip and didn't dare tell anyone that I was scared to death. I got a script for vallum (sp) to take on the plane to ease my nerves (I love to fly but was scared at the thought of this "THING" actually coming to fruition). It helped wonders and by the time we got on the plane and had a little glass of bubbly I was great!

Oh Em, I hate that feeling (if it's what you're going through)... It will all be over so fast and you will have memories of it instead of all those darn expectations and questions roaming through you head all the time! Even though it was bad for us/her to be together, at least we know what it "looked like"! No more wondering!!! I drempt that I was with you guys last night!

IT GOES BY LIKE BEING AT YOUR WEDDING SO RECORD EVERY DETAIL! IT'S ALL A HUGE ADRENALIN RUSH!

XOXOXO GO TEAM XOXOXO LORI

What a great post. I remember seeing this chapter of the confession and marveling in it before we started our adoption. It is amazing how suddenly these children become nothing but yours with no distinction between biological and adopted.
God's grace to you on your journey. "Love and respect the people and they will love you!" -(our driver in Ethiopia)

Moody, you are such a prince! Thanks for this, brother. Every time I dwell on the miracle of our adoption by the Father it awes me. Rest well, Em, and know that you are being lifted up in prayer by all the Hausams. We rejoice with you that Abe will be in your embrace in just a few short days!
Blessings, friends.
