"I am with you and for you"

Jesus Calling by Sarah Young is a devotional book that my sweet friends, Gwen and Suzanne, gave me for my birthday.  I was so encouraged and convicted by yesterday's entry.  Prayerfully it will sit with me awhile.

I am with you and for you.  When you decide on a course of action that is within My will, nothing in heaven or on earth can stop you.  You may encounter many obstacles as you move toward your goal, but don't be discouraged- never give up! With my help, you can overcome any obstacle.  Do not expect an easy path as you journey hand in hand with Me, but do remember that I, your very-present Helper, am omnipotent.

Much, much stress results from your wanting to make things happen before their times have come.  One of the main ways I assert My sovereignty is in the timing of events.  If you want to stay close to Me and do things My way, ask Me to show you the path forward moment, by moment. Instead of dashing headlong toward your goal, let Me set the pace.  Slow down, and enjoy the journey in My presence.

What shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
 Romans 8:31

God is our refuge and our strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though the waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.
Psalm 46 1-3

I know that my anxiety and frustrations have come from my desire to speed things up and not just trusting in a sovereign God that works all things for my good and His glory!

Oh I love it - if that doesn't calm someone, nothing can! We are just these vessels for which He works through...

Thanks for your post! It was just what I needed today. Last night was the first night I lost it and just wanted to give up. I praise God for putting you in my life. Have a great day and I continue to pray for you, Moody and the family. Blessings and Faith, Pam

Hey! It would be fun to meet up with you all.... It would probably work out better in two weeks when we are back down there. This weekend his team plays at Trinity Valley on Friday and Greenhill School on Saturday. When we are in Dallas on the weekend of the 25th his team plays at All Saints and Oakridge.

Email me. amyde63@hotmail.com

Great post Em...this can be applied to SO many areas of my life right now that I have been feeling so anxious about! What a wonderful feeling to know our Father knows what is best even when we cannot see the master plan.

A commenter on my blog directed me to yours...I needed to read this post so badly. We are currently in month 12 of waiting to bring our son (our 7th) home from Vietnam. It has been an incredibly long year and your post has been soothing to my heart. Thank you.

Hi Emily...
Thanks for your encouraging words!!! I've been following your story after finding your blog... I'm so sad that you've had to wait, but I'm learning (as we all are) that God has his timing and we may never know why. But hey, let's pray for that timing to be soon for you! Thanks for your great posts- they are so full of truth and grace. Your family is beautiful!
God bless...

Em,
Great truth! Praying the Lord's grace as you "flesh it out". One of the key themes of Scripture seems to be "wait". Comforting to know that He is with us in the waiting.
Love you, praying too for the call.
