dallas/ft. worth area group

We had a wonderful time on Saturday night with our fellow DFW area families that are adopting from Ethiopia.  Two of the families, Lydick's and Frey's, leave on the 29th to pick up their precious babies. We are so happy for them and can't wait to see them in February.

We were discussing names for our little (but growing) group.  My sweet friend, Laurie, lives in sunny California and has the clever name of OCEAN (Orange County Ethiopia Adoption Network) for her crew.  A few posts back she gave our group a few ideas:

Texas Ethiopian Adopted Kids (TEAK)
Network for Ethiopian Adoption in Texas (NEAT)
Dallas Ethiopian Adoption Ring (DEAR)
Or my fave: Families Rich in Ethiopian Adopted Kids (FREAK!)

Vote for one of her suggestions or come up with your own! The winner will have the great satisfaction of winning the coveted "Naming Champion of the DFW Ethiopian adoption group!"  Who wouldn't want that sash to wear around their neck?

They're all great - I really love Freak, but I supose the kids wouldn't appreciate when they're old enough to know what that word is! Looks like a ball, I was driving around in circles trying to find your house and never made it! Sorry, perhaps next time! ;)

xoxo Looks like a blast! Lor
ps. I didn't get this update until today - darn computer!

LOL, I'm famous! I'm so glad you all had a wonderful time together. OCEAN was together on Sunday night (I always forget to take enough pictures, though) and it is always such a precious time encouraging others and sharing our hearts. Em, when you get a chance email me your address, etc. I want to send you something when your good news call comes. :D

H.A.V.E - hearts adopting via Ethiopia

T.A.K.E - Texans adopting kids in Ethiopia

S.O.F.A - society of friends adopting

and I was trying to do GOOF (group of adopting families) but then remembered that "adoption" starts with an 'A.' :) I do like FREAK and NEAT too!

We had such a great time.

I must say that I'm afraid FREAK might be misconstrued by Ethiopian-Americans--they might not get the humour. Just a thought.

I like DEAR, too. :)

Personally FREAK makes me laugh out loud. However I don't know that it would be well received by all. LOL!

Oh and I'm glad you posted again too. I was missing your posts. :)

I love your ideas! Our newly established group is LEAN (Loudoun Ethiopia Adoption Network.) So that we can LEAN on one another for support.
It is such a gift to get together with others on the same journey isn't it?
Have a blessed day! :o)
