are you in?
Waiting is hard for adults and for kids. In an effort to wrap their brains around how long 6 months is, the kids worked hard today on paper chains to count down the days until we receive a referral. Those that know us well won't be surprised that we found a way to make a competition out of it. We made chains for everyday for the next 6 months. (We have been told to estimate a 1-6 month wait for a referral)
Each child wrote their name on one of the chains and the one that is closest was going to win a prize! Hill thought we should open it up to anyone that wants to participate:) So, if you are in for a little friendly competition (and $20 cash)-- write a date between September 1st and February 29th in the comments section (you could be mean and pick a later date- we won't like it, but it could happen). For those unfamiliar with posting a comment- click on the word comments at the end of this post and write your guess. You will need to either sign in with a google account or you can sign in as anonymous-- be sure to include your name in your post if you do this so we know whose name to write down!!!
The person whose name is closest to our referral date will win the cash and the coveted title "Alexander Referral Contest Winner"!! The kids are really excited about reading the comments and then writing down names--so please join the fun.

October 16th!!!!! Lucky Day ;)
The Smedshammer Clan say- November 16th!! Joel's Birthday :)
i chose december 26th my birthday!! yay! can't wait for the day!
Great idea guys! Competition is my middle name and you know I love winning!! :) Reesie says she wants her new brother/sister on October 29th. :)
Daddy (posting from Brazil) says February 25 (Daddy Wick's bDay) Not to be a bummer but my gut has always said "next spring". Fun project! Way to go babe!
I am going to go for November 8th! I don't really know why...its close to the middle of your wait time. But, you know that I would love to click on your blog and find that you have received a referral sometime in September. Amy
How fun...we say November 30th! Hello to all the Alexanders! Graham looked so cute in his uniform today. I love school...I am such a geek about it!
I'm going to be somewhat optimistic and say November 1st. This gets you one month out from the courts opening back-up and hopefully everything moving along smoothly. Great idea. I may have to still it.
I"m going to say October 17...because that's a great day...and that's our 'hopeful' day to hear good news about our son!! I hope we both can celebrate on that day!!
I think those chains look pretty hanging on the wall. :)
Sept. 28th!!!!
Im gonna go with a Christmas baby...or babies!!!!
December 23rd!!!!! :-)
Merry Christmas!
ALL RIGHT, STEP ASIDE. THE DATE WILL BE...drum roll...December 10th. Do you want to go ahead and make my check out? It's one "l", two "s's".
Oh, this is fun. October 1, sounds like a good day.
I say November 3rd, which is also my birthday :)
Ellen
I am going to go with November 11th. But I am secretly hoping for something more along the lines of...tomorrow. :)
I'm choosing November 13th because that's my birthday and these will be my 12th and 13th grandchildren!! What better gift to receive than news that the latest additions to our family are now known to us, though known by our Lord from all eternity.
Of course I'm not at all competitive so I didn't understand that part of this deal.....
Candy
This is Emily, not Avery:
I had no hope of not inheriting the competive gene-- it came big time from both sides of my family:) If you don't believe me-- come bowl with us sometime!!
Ok- I'm back and pretty sure I used a double negative before.....
Will you be at church tomorrow?
Is Shawn preaching?-- we will be there:) Look forward to it!
yes...please no pressure...I know it is a holiday weekend...if you are there - great!
How about December 15th? What a fantastic idea your kids came up with! I wish we'd thought of the same. Very fun!
Ok I don't know how to do this posting stuff! Aunt Shanna says Nov. 29th. That is her birthday! We can't wait to have more cousins! We love ya'll. Aunt Shanna
Ok we are getting the hang of this! Mateo and Marco say Dec 2nd to hear about their new cousins. That is their daddy's Birthday. Mateo just asked today about his own adoption. He asked me when I started to love him!!! Bless my precious Mateo!
Love, Shanna, Mateo and Marco
Going for January 23rd. Hope it's sooner, and would gladly cough up $20 to see an earlier date...
Moody, easy on the flower thing. Putting lots of pressure on us guys. Brett
this is a late guess, but i love games and competition is high on the Oatsvall list of fun ... Dec. 29th... i may steal this idea for us ....
Feb. 9th, 2008
Right before Valentine's Day. What a great way to spread the love!
