I saw what I saw and I can't forget it......

I am home, so happy to be reunited with my precious family, yet torn by my recent trip to Ethiopia. The people, the country, the sights, the smells-- hold so very much of my heart. I am finding it difficult to express with words all that we saw, all that we experienced. Heading 8 hours south of Addis, much of it on dirt roads, was just a journey like no other that I have traveled. The Lord was at every turn, His Presence felt, your prayers were answered and I stand in awe at what He revealed to us there.

I will try to begin processing it on the blog, sharing some of the incredible ways that He went before us, prepared the way, and protected us! The Glimmer team took excellent care of us and I will forever be grateful for all they showed us on this trip. The work that they are doing is simply hard to describe- the impact is felt by 1,000's and 1,000's of Ethiopians across the country. More to come on that for sure..........

The slideshow is long, I cut so much of it already. I wanted a permanent reminder. I won't know if you check out a few minutes in!! :) I simply can't forget all that we saw and am excited to see what the future holds.

I can't wait to see all the pics that Kristin took, it is an intimidating thing to be snapping pics on my little point and shoot next to a pro. She is enjoying time with her family in Holland and will be back later this week. I'm sure once she gets settled, she will have far better images to share!

Beautiful. In a deeper way than I can explain. I look for Bella's aunt or uncle in the faces in the crowd. I look for the little children as a hint of who she would have been. One man looked like Eyasu as a grown man hinting of the man he will become.

Amazing Job Em! Fun to see things through your eye. Truly we were so privileged to see what we saw . . . and now we stand responsible. Much to process. (And much to edit!!)

Emily,

Thank you so much for sharing some of your experiences with us. I'm looking forward to hearing more as you process everything!

My husband and I are in the process of adopting our first child from Ethiopia through Gladney (we received CIS approval today!), and I just love seeing the land and people I have already grown to love.

Thanks again,
Rebecca

Rivited the whole time...it's so beautiful there...scenery and people. Know that you're more changed because of each visit. Getting out of the city, I bet, gives more perspective...and knowing that sweet Abey and Eyasu are from those sweet people...wow...much to process, I'm sure.

Thank you for sharing pictures from your trip! I loved the entire video...I can't wait to experience some of what you saw - we leave in a couple of days!!! I was especially thankful to see some of the Wolaita region...that is where our little girl is from. So happy you had a great trip - I can't wait to hear more about it. Your love for Ethiopia and it's people is so obvious...thank you for sharing your heart with us and our daughter's homeland.

Just Beautiful, the music gave me goosebumps, and the images brought tears to my eyes. Bart and I leave for Ethiopia on Thursday. We are so excited to go share the name of Jesus with many whom have never heard. We just mailed in our first set of paperwork today!
Thank you for sharing,

Emily,
The smallest of glimpses make my heart feel at home. How is it that in the midst of such poverty there is such a richness of spirit, which allows the heart to be fully alive and engaged. I am with you; I cannot move forward from what we saw, where God took us, what He intends for us, and His design for His big "C" church to accomplish in His name for His glory. Just wish He would move us there TOMORROW! Loving that He allowed you to return to the place your heart calls home this side of heaven.
Love,
Lori

Emily,
We can meet whenever you can fit me in. We are fairly flexible. You look at your schedule and let me know. I WILL make it work. I can't wait. Also, did you happen to get the info from Makush on Nati's contact info. Need to set us up for our next trip. What are your dates in October? Genet wants us to work around them. Maybe our trips will cross over a bit???
