Happy Abe Day!!!!
It is hard to believe that it has been two years since this precious child was placed in our arms. Two years since we first stepped foot on Ethiopian soil.
So much has happened in these two years and there is so much more ahead. Abe had his 6 month check up with the neurologist today. I left feeling as though a glass of cold water had been thrown in my face. Another MRI to schedule, more talk of future, more tests, new meds, more talk of reality...........and honestly I felt down. I am so thankful that the Lord was quick to reveal Himself to me, so quick to remind me who the Great Physician is, so quick to remind me of the gift that we have in Abe. He brings so much joy in the midst of the hard. It is difficult to explain, it is just the impact of sweet baby Abe though. Ask those that have met him, his smile is magic.
Do we wish he could walk, talk, play with toys, feed himself? Of course we do. But it doesn't seem to be the Lord's plan for him today. We still pray for a miracle, for him to one day be fully healed and we would covet the continued prayers from you, but I am not so sure that Abe is not the miracle. We know that the Lord has used Abe to break us, to shape us, to humble us and to teach us like nothing I have ever experienced. How could we not be grateful?
I lose count of the numbers of times his older siblings smother him with kisses each day, call him a number of hilarious nicknames, tell very elaborate tales of Abey adventures, and consider him their greatest joy. We are so blessed that the Lord saw fit to place Abe on our team.
Enjoy the trip back!! Thank you Kristin for using your gift.

That video breaks me every time! Your family is very special. Please keep living out loud!!
Love you friend. Someday we'll meet Mr. Abe. Love the video, love you Alexanders.
May the God bless you and your family!!! I remember it like yesterday when you got Abe. Happy Abe Day!!!
Happy Abe Day!
he IS the miracle, the miracle that took your hearts and captured them for an entire nation of people across the ocean, to provide villages with life sustaining water and hope! so, he may not be able to feed himself, but by what he brought to your family, he is making sure that whole VILLAGES of people are being fed-tell that to the neurologist!! :)
Happy Abe Day! Your beautiful video probably my all-time favorite. Abe's joining your family has changed so many lives--he IS a precious miracle! Your family is such an inspriation and will continue to be in our prayers.
Just beautiful. Adoption has changed me more than I ever could have imagined. I was just explaining to our little guy this morning (been home a little over a year) that he doesn't have to "do" anything or "prove" to us that he's worthy of love (there's still some insecurity in those areas.) He's our sweet boy, God placed him in our family, and we love him unconditionally...and I was struck yet again at how adoption is the most beautiful reflection of the gospel that I've ever personally experienced or witnessed. Your video and life story just reinforces that for me. Thanks for sharing.
Abe has changed my life too. And the Lord brings him to mind often. Know that he continues to be covered in my prayers. I cannot wait to meet your Miracle Man Abe someday!
Love & Blessings from Hong Kong.

Happy Abe Day! You articulate so well the place that Abe has in your family and how much he has brought to your lives. We continue to be inspired by your family's faith and strength as we navigate our own journey.
OK so after hearing about you from Gwen...I searched your page. I just want to say- you have a BEAUTIFUL family. I have only read a few posts, but what I see is wonderful. So glad we never get what we want, but what God wants for us. Otherwise we would have missed out on our many miracles in our lives too.
Thank you for your outlook. You are an inspiration and God is using your family to His glory! What amazing things you are doing and your kids will do as they grow!

Oh, Emily! What a precious, beautiful journey. Abe carries the joy of the Lord... what a beautiful boy. I praise God for His faithfulness in placing Abe in your family where he will always be so well loved and taken care of.
Much love to you guys!
I remember following your trip to bring home Abe...and the year that unfolded. He is such a beautiful boy and I can tell that his smile is infectious!! Such a blessing you have been for one another! May God continue to bless you and your family!
That smile gets me every time. Abe has me wrapped around his finger and I've never even met him (yet) :). Will always pray for this little treasure...
Happy Abe Day!! Your family continues to be in my prayers! May God bless you all.
Happy Abe Day!!! I still remember seeing your gotcha day video (sent to be by my friend alison), and was a teary mess. His joyful smile is the best!
That video is so sweet and just breaks my heart. He has such a sweetness about him and I love his hair! Keeping you all in our prayers!
Happy Abe Day to you all! I have seen that video 3 or 4 times now and have not made it through with dry eyes yet! Seeing it through different eyes knowing we are a few months away from picking up our own daughter!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
You have to check my blog and read the conversation I had in the car with my kiddos yesterday. God is changing hearts for the orphans everywhere! www.familyboulton.blogspot.com
Hi. You're family is beautiful. We recently brought our little girl home from Thailand. Siri is 3 1/2 and has cp, cortical vision impairment (legally blind),and global developmental delays. Your son and her have much in common as she also cannot walk, talk, and needs to be fed. A good friend shared your blog with us and the post about staying in a nursing home. Could you please share more info with us about the grant you're referring to in that post? Any info would be helpful, as we're also paying out of pocket as the therapies begin. I tried to find an email address, but couldn't. Our email is dionandlinnet@hotmail.com Thank you very much. I'm glad our friend shared your blog with us!
sweeet sweeeeeeet boy! love watching your family's hearts grow!
He looks like such a sweet happy boy!
That boys smile and face has touched my heart and I will probably never even meet him. You are a beautiful and inspiring family. Thank you for your example of joy, hope and faith.
That was so beautiful, I'm speechless.
I am so glad I stumbled across your blog...what a blessing.
Oh, Emily. You've blessed me today, just like you bless that baby boy every day.
Happy Abe Day!! love how God is weaving your family together.
This is probably my favorite adoption video ever. I love you guys. Sitting here bawling. Yes, Abe IS the miracle.
