book recommendation

Have you read this book?? If not, I HIGHLY recommend it. It is wrecking me much like Crazy Love did over a year ago.

"For I was hungry, while you had all you needed. I was thirsty, but you drank bottled water. I was a stranger, any you wanted me deported. I needed clothes, but you needed more clothes. I was sick and you pointed out the behaviors that led to my sickness. I was in prison, and you said I was getting what I deserved." (pg. 59)

This is after the author, Richard Stearns, has done an amazing job going through Matthew 25.

Get the book and let me know so we can discuss it please. I enjoy working through a good, thought-provoking book with others..........especially when the book asks the questions, "what if all followers of Jesus looked beyond the walls of their churches and worked together in reclaiming the world for Chirst's kingdom? What if we actually demonstrated God's love for the world instead of just talking about it? What if we embraced the whole gospel of loving God and loving our neighbors?" (inside front book cover)

What if? my friends.

Emily, I LOVE this book! I was planning to write a post about it too! I am half way done with it (if only I didn't fall asleep at night when I hunker down to read!!!) I have so many pages turned over to go back and re-read and to discuss with someone. I had marked page 59 (the page you quoted) to write about :) Keep me posted on your thoughts - once again, thanks for the great post!

Oh yes! I love this book--- anticipated it coming out in June! Still can't get out of my head people bringing children to offer them to Jesus--to bless them and heal them and love them--being just how they bring them to us in third world countries---the reality is crushing!

Seth looks like the happiest Christmas boy ever! Love the pics! :)

LOVE this book. I have been praying his prayer - for God to break my heart for the things that break His heart - and I have had some tearful days, let me tell ya.

Another one I LOVE is "Interrupted" by Jen Hatmaker.

oh heck yes.
i loved this book- just finished it. loved his comparison of churches in america vs. africa. and, frankly, he calls out the american church as a bunch of complacent, out-of-touch-with-reality whiners. and then calls us to cut it out and rediscover what the bible actually says. amazing. challenging. and, bono endorses it. BOOYA.

Yes, amazing! I got a review copy of it at the beginning of this year and read and reread it. I work for a magazine, and we even ran an excerpt from it. A must-read! A hundred crashing jetliners changed my life.
