book recommendation
Have you read this book?? If not, I HIGHLY recommend it. It is wrecking me much like Crazy Love did over a year ago.
"For I was hungry, while you had all you needed. I was thirsty, but you drank bottled water. I was a stranger, any you wanted me deported. I needed clothes, but you needed more clothes. I was sick and you pointed out the behaviors that led to my sickness. I was in prison, and you said I was getting what I deserved." (pg. 59)
This is after the author, Richard Stearns, has done an amazing job going through Matthew 25.
Get the book and let me know so we can discuss it please. I enjoy working through a good, thought-provoking book with others..........especially when the book asks the questions, "what if all followers of Jesus looked beyond the walls of their churches and worked together in reclaiming the world for Chirst's kingdom? What if we actually demonstrated God's love for the world instead of just talking about it? What if we embraced the whole gospel of loving God and loving our neighbors?" (inside front book cover)
What if? my friends.

This sounds like a great book! I will try to read it. Happy 2010!
I've been looking for a good book to read lately and this one sounds PERFECT! I had never heard of it before so thank you so much for recommending it!
LOVED LOVED LOVED this book! It wrecked me too and makes me ask what ELSE can I be doing? I want to do something more.
will read!!
I just ordered this book 20 minutes ago! Can't wait to read it. Happy New Year!
it's on my list - but it just moved up. glad you said something :)
Sounds good- will run out to get it this week. We just read Love and War by John & Stasi Eldredge- such a wonderful boost for your marriage- and it's easy to read quickly.
Will be looking for this one in Hong Kong!
Happy Twenty-Ten Em!
Love & Blessings,
Kim
Fantastic...it will def. be my next Read!
I read this book and it hit me so hard I'd have to take a break, breath, and read some more. Everyone should read it...everyone.
Actually wrote this blog after reading it.

Emily, I LOVE this book! I was planning to write a post about it too! I am half way done with it (if only I didn't fall asleep at night when I hunker down to read!!!) I have so many pages turned over to go back and re-read and to discuss with someone. I had marked page 59 (the page you quoted) to write about :) Keep me posted on your thoughts - once again, thanks for the great post!

P.S. Our dossier is on it's way to KVI!
Oh yes! I love this book--- anticipated it coming out in June! Still can't get out of my head people bringing children to offer them to Jesus--to bless them and heal them and love them--being just how they bring them to us in third world countries---the reality is crushing!
Seth looks like the happiest Christmas boy ever! Love the pics! :)
LOVE this book. I have been praying his prayer - for God to break my heart for the things that break His heart - and I have had some tearful days, let me tell ya.
Another one I LOVE is "Interrupted" by Jen Hatmaker.
Just got it via your mom today! Can't wait to read it!
gosh sister...after reading the few exerpts that you posted i/m a little afraid to read it! will buy it..only because YOU recommend it! Im glad to hear you are doing well. Your new one is truly the cutest I think that I've ever seen! would LOVE to see you soon...spendin A LOT of time at the dr, but making LOTS of progress...she was DEFINITELY a hidden treasure!
I heard this man's heart at Women of Faith this past summer and HAD to get the book. Life changing. Thanks for encouraging others to read it!
Oh friend!!! You know how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE this book!! One of my fav lines? "It's time to commit!" Rocked my world too, as you know! Love ya -
Great book. I actually had the pleasure of meeting the man at the Women of faith conference and he rocks. Good choice!
oh heck yes.
i loved this book- just finished it. loved his comparison of churches in america vs. africa. and, frankly, he calls out the american church as a bunch of complacent, out-of-touch-with-reality whiners. and then calls us to cut it out and rediscover what the bible actually says. amazing. challenging. and, bono endorses it. BOOYA.
it should be coming in the mail today ... what page are you on ??? you know i love it when we text our favorite pages to each other ... going to speak at a women's group on Wed. that is starting CRAZY LOVE ... hope they are ready for my story !!! hee hee ... love ya girl!
read this book early last year...LOVED it.
asked my husband to read it.
we had been praying about/discussing/talking about adopting for months.
this book is what finally did it...pushed us over the edge. and we are SO thankful!!!
Yes, amazing! I got a review copy of it at the beginning of this year and read and reread it. I work for a magazine, and we even ran an excerpt from it. A must-read! A hundred crashing jetliners changed my life.
sounds like a good one.
I ((heart)) this book so much!!!
I just ordered some books from Amazon last week...and forgot to get this one....I've heard excellent things about it....guess I'll have to add it to my next order. :)
Sounds like a great book!
Blessings,
Jill
