abey in ethiopia
I am going to try to start recapping our trip. It will be hard to put into words just how amazing our two weeks in Ethiopia were for our team and our family. One of the biggest concerns for me as mom, was how the little boys would do. I was worried about Abe physically and Eyasu emotionally.
Both did great, but this post is about Abe! He was his sweet, smiley self for the whole trip. He never cried on the LONG plane rides and was a joy during the days. He couldn't ever figure out the whole sleep thing unfortunately though. Made for a tired mama, but he seemed to hang in there on all fronts.
I loved how new friends in his life discovered his love for the camera and how he will squeel in delight when one came near him!
We did discover that international travel and life in Ethiopia aren't geared towards someone with disabilities. Many stairs, and few elevators made for much Abey holding. Fine now that he is 25 pounds, will get harder as he gets heavier. Just part of the journey, part of His refining us. So thankful he was there with us, to experience his birthcountry.
Sad to be back to reality honestly. My heart just aches to be there. Excited about new projects, and planning the next EthiopiaSmile trip.
ps- great story to go with the first picture. One of my favorite from the entire trip..........will share soon

Em, update us on your next date for project ET smile. We'd love to coordinate times. I think I could get a few dentists from here to join in, and we'd love to help as a support team. Seriously, let's coordinate times.
Love,
L
Love the pictures of sweet Abey. He personality seems to bigger than his little 25 lb :) body. Last night talking to JAson...how could we move there? Don't they need lawyers:)
Picture of Abe and Sammy is by far my favorite picture of the trip. It makes me laugh and cry all at the same time. Just a reminder how gracious the Lord has been to me to let me share this experience with you. Thanks for including me!
Love, love, love how Abey naturally lights up around a camera! As always his smile ALWAYS makes me light up! Love the story with Sammy!! Love the project and Love how God is using your family to impact the world!!!
seriously, I KNOW my life would look incredibly different today if it wasn't for this little guy. pretty sure half of arlington is with me on that one :) that smile just made my day, again.
thank you Lord, for using Abey for a major ripple efffect!
love you all.
It was so nice to meet you guys in person in Addis! Hope you had a safe trip home and Moody made his Rangers game. :)
Dawn
AMAZING! Need. To. Talk. Soon. :) Love you all.
"And a little child shall lead them."
Abey surely is living testimony to that fact. How good of God to place him in our family to see how "upside down" from the world's ways the Lord in His wisdom works.
So thankful for this trip and, hopefully, Lord willing, the opportunity to be on the next one.
Lord, open hearts and bank accounts to make this dream reality.
Love,
Mom

Love it. Your family is an inspiration! Sweet Abe's smile was just what I needed this afternoon.
Can't wait to read all the updates. His smile continues to be a beacon! Love that boy! Glad y'all are home!
Great pics!
Makes my heart swell, Em!
