ups and downs of adoption
We had a blast with our friends and Bono is just the definition of cool - more on that later once I get pics.
Upside of adoption- watching our dear friends Pam and Steve as they were introduced to their new, beautiful 5 year old daughter. Yes, they got their referral at our house!! What joy.
Downside- WAITING. Found out today that our case that we thought was left open during the closure has been closed. We now have to WAIT for a new court date. Yes, we wait some more. So heartbroken for my sweet boy. So ready to have him home, but we now wait.
Please pray for a new court date to be given quickly.

fall
I love fall! Yesterday Lauren took the kids to get pumpkins to carve. They had a great time and I love having their artwork on the front porch.

Our dear Hill wanted to write Hill the Awesome until he realized how much effort actually goes into carving these things! Pretty sure he is joking, but he is a teen. :)

we wait some more
We got a call yesterday that the courts in Ethiopia will not open October 5th as originally stated. They are closing for the next 2 weeks for training. We hope they will begin processing cases on the 12th, but do not have confirmation of that at this point.
It is so sad to me that we are getting inched back a little here and a little there, but trying to cling to what I know to be true. I am just so ready to have him here!!
Not exactly the kind of birthday gift I like. :)

38!
Today is my birthday. I am 38. Honestly due to the lack of sleep, I am feeling it this year. :) My kids made my day though this morning. They grabbed Abe from me (he ends up with me each night) and told me to go back to sleep. Glorious!!! I woke up at 8:45, they handed me a perfect cup of my favorite Gobena coffee, and gave me the best homemade cards in the world. Is there anything better than a hand crafted card from kids? They were each so sweet with their words and they even traced Abey's hand on his card! :)Avery painted this canvas for me. She used 2 of my favorite colors and painted one of my favorite verses-- James 1:27. She knows my heart well, and I know the Lord has placed a special place in her heart for all the orphans in the world too. She painted an Ethiopian cross on it to make it the perfect gift! I love the time and thoughtfulness that went into making me this gift.
So today, I will celebrate all that I have and forget about the wrinkles and gray hairs on my head. I will embrace the precious gifts before me (and one in Ethiopia) and a dear hubby that makes me feel like a queen.
