COURT DATE!!!!!!

Like cold water to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.
Proverbs 25:25

We found out yesterday that we have a court date for July 24th. One more HUGE step toward getting our little guy. We have received new pics over the last few days as well from precious people that have traveled to Ethiopia. He is growing so fast!

If we have a successful first trip through courts, A will be forever in our arms mid-August! I can't type that without my eyes filling with tears. :)

We are so thankful to the Lord for this lastest blessing.

falling

I would love to say that this wait has warped my sense of humor, but I have always found people falling down pretty hilarious (assuming no one is injured of course)!  If any psychologists are out there, feel free to analyze away.

Stick with it a few seconds, I promise it doesn't go in the direction that you might think.
Listen to those behind the camera. :)

welcome lewis

A friend from college is in Vietnam right now picking up her son.  They put a slide show up from their meeting him for the first time.  I love seeing the Lord bringing forever families together for the first time!!

time

Time is something that I'm struggling with lately. Time. I can sometimes hear the tick-tock of the clock in my head as the Ethiopian courts are closing at the first of August. I know that if we are meant to get through courts before they close, we will. I know that His timing is best, I do, but I still struggle with thinking about our baby boy spending any more time without his family than necessary!

I read this yesterday, "Wait patiently with Me while I bless you. Don't rush into My Presence with time-consciousness gnawing at your mind." Honestly, this was my devo as the tick-tock of the clock was ringing in my head. Ok, gnawing at me, I admit it!

One of the hard to grasp truths of the Lord is that He isn't bound by the constraints of time. He dwells in timelessness. "For you time is a protection; you're a frail creature who can handle only twenty-four-hour segments of life." This waiting stuff is hard.

So by faith, we are trusting in the One who was, and is and is to come for baby A, our family and the day we will be united!  Have I mentioned how I ache to get my hands on his cheeks, hair, lips, etc.....??

back to reality

We had an amazing time at family camp! We did NOT want to come home.

One week without the computer, cell phone, t.v---does wonders for the soul.  We were able to spend time with old friends, meet new friends, enjoy an awesome speaker for the parents, watch the kids run around with their counselors and just have an all around relaxing week of togetherness.

The theme for the week was how to have a successful family in today's culture.  It was encouraging to first think about what our definition of a successful family is and then begin to articulate our vision for how to get there.  What are some things that your family does to combat all the world throws at us today??

I highly recommend family camp as a family vacation.  It is a vacation with a purpose and we loved it!!!

No news on the adoption front. I am having a hard time today with that but continue to trust in the Lord and His provision for our family. We got the most precious video of A when we got home!! He is so beautiful- we can't wait to go get him. Praying that it is soon!!

Off to camp

Team Alexander is headed to camp!  We leave to pick up the boys and head right next door to the most incredible family camp.  One week of togetherness.  I can't wait to spend uninterrupted time with my man and my kids.  Only wish our little man were here to join us!

We will be doing ropes courses, lazy rivers, baseball, blobbing, water sliding, fellowshipping, eating, playing, putt-putt golfing, canoeing, tubing, bluff jumping and the list goes on and on.  I won't be blogging though. This is roughing it, I know! :)  I will have my blackberry so my agency can reach me to tell me great news regarding court dates and what not!! :)  Email me referral and travel date news please!  I will be praying for all those waiting for referrals and those waiting to travel.

Here are a few pics from last summer at family camp.  The first one is my friend Julie and her precious family!  Don't try to click on her name, she doesn't have a blog. :)  She is on her second Ethiopian adoption and still no blog........hmmmm?!

What camp experience is complete without sack racing?

Or hula-hooping with a glass of water taped to a helmet on your head? :)

Kids dining with new friends.

Boys working hard not to get thrown off the tube!

Dad and Ave about to brave the ropes course!
Hope everyone has a great week!

Rest in Me, My child.

Give your mind a break from planning and trying to anticipate what will happen. Pray continually, asking My Spirit to take charge of the details of this day. Remember that you are on a journey with Me. When you try to peer into the future and plan for every possibility, you ignore your constant Companion, who sustains you moment by moment. As you gaze anxiously into the distance, you don't even feel the strong grip of My hand holding yours. How foolish you are, My child!

Rememberance of Me is a daily discipline. Never lose sight of My presence with you. This will keep you resting in Me all day, every day.

For God alone, O My soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God. Psalm 62:5-7

This was my devotional this morning. The words were so appropriate for me today. I know all of this to be true, but I am struggling with wanting so badly to know the exact moment that I will hold my son. I want to know for sure that it will be before the courts close and there is just no way to know! I must simply rest in the goodness of my savior and trust in His timing! My sweet boy will be 3 months old tomorrow. I long to hold him, smell him and see that precious smile in person.

This has truly been an adventure with God. When he tugged at my heart well over a year ago to begin this journey, I had NOT A CLUE what the road would be for our family. I honestly thought that we would do our paperwork, get on the list and wait the 1-6 month time frame that was presented to us, we would then hop on a plane and go get our kids!! Apparently that wasn't His plan! I am so thankful though. His plan is always, always best. It is always for our good and His glory. I want His best for our family. So, I will continue to wait and earnestly pray that we get through courts sooner than later. I would be so grateful if you would pray the same- for all of the families with referrals that are trying to make it through before they close. I know the Ethiopian staff is doing everything that they can to make this happen and we are so thankful for them!! :)

BEST NEWS--My faithful friend Lori found out yesterday that she has a beautiful daughter!! Go say congrats. We are so happy for them!!
