great book and excellent resource

I had the privilege to get to an advance copy of Julie Gumm's new book, Adopt Without Debt: Creative Ways to Cover the Cost of Adoption.  Julie and I first "met" years ago as we were both in the process to adopt from Ethiopia at the same time.  We have kept up and I am so thankful that she took the time to tell her story and share these creative ways to raise the funds for an adoption.

There is a statistic that says that 35% of Christians consider adoption, yet only 7% actually do.  There are many reasons that tend to be given, but the high cost is usually at the top of the list.  I pray that this book would be a blessing for anyone that thinks finances are standing in the way of responding to the desire to adopt.

Julie and her husband, Mark, have an inspiring story about their response to the Lords conviction to get out of debt.  She weaves their story with various fundraising ideas, budgeting strategies and other excellent examples throughout the book.

You can get your copy here.  You will be glad that you did!

Emily Thank you so much for this post. My husband and I are just getting ready to start our second adoption and were dreading the financial side of it all. We didn't do any fundraising our first time around so we were looking for something just like this book to help us get started. Thanks!

Thank you! A friend was just asking me about fundraising an adoption. I had very few answers for her. I just ordered a copy to send to her and I might have to pick one up for us as well.

I just ordered 5 copies for our adoption ministry. I always ask people the question, "If I handed you a certificate good for one free adoption, would you bring an orphan into your home today?" The answer they give determines to me whether their hurdle is financial or not. Believe it or not, some people say no.
