off to a good start
We are almost officially done with the Alexander Academy this year and we are excited about the summer. I love not having a schedule around here!! I think it is off to a great start though-- Avery just came in carrying a branch with several leaves and said, "mom, what is this?"
I was so quick to make her throw it away and shower, that I didn't get a picture........so this one will have to do. It is poison ivy! When I was her age, my best friend and I had a genius idea to rub poison ivy all over us to see what would happen. I either rubbed harder or am just REALLY allergic. She ended up just fine and I literally was so swollen that I couldn't see for 3 days. It was great fun!
Hope Avery reacts more like Hilary and less like her mama!

Oh wow! I thought Hill and Wick were highly educated in the poison ivy department. :0) Especially Wicky, right? Hope Ave is immune like me!
My middle boy Devin just had it again! You can say poison ivey and he braks out all over his body!
This most be the year of poison ivy!
In all 5 years at this home we have never had a poison ivy plant growing until this year- They are EVERYWEHERE. I litterally walked the acres with a can of hotpink spray paint to paint them all because it will take weeks to get rid of it.
I will hope Avery doesn't have a severe reaction like you did:)
Bless her heart! I hope she is okay & is protected because of her mama's quick thinking!
Thanks so much for the note. We loved following your blog when you traveled to get Abe. You have a beautiful family. Thanks again!
oh gosh! poor girl, i hope she doesn't have any problems from it.
do you guys homeschool? we are going to start officially homeschooling this fall. i'm nervous. :)
Ohhhhh noooo!!! I hope she isn't just like mommy:) Hannah somehow got it from the trampoline & was covered from head to toe. ughhhh!!
Cross my fingers!
oh no! hope she is ok!
Hahaha!! Nice! My cousin (well, Tim's cousin) went to school up in DC and she and another Southern friend of hers decided to make Christmas wreaths out of all the beautiful ivy growing. Yep, it was a Yankee brand of poison ivy! And they gave them to their professors!! Soo miserable for them but hilarious for everyone else!
Hope Avery got it all washed off!
(That was Stacy!) :)
ohhh...that is BAD! And hilarious in it's own way, as long as it doensn't amount to anything!
OH NO! Hope that girl is immune! Hoping to see ya'll with Annie this weekend!
Oh my goodness! The timing is actually kinda funny. We went hiking on Sunday for my husband's birthday. My 7 year old son (who is recovering from ADHD struggles!) went crashing through the bushes as we were getting ready to get started. He then started screaming. Turns out he was SPINNING and fell into the shrubbery...which happened to be stinging nettles. Oh my. He broke out in blisters/hives within 5 minutes. So sad. Now he knows to stay on the trail though! :-) Eesh.
