Father to the Fatherless
Getting on a plane in the morning to head to the Summit!! Quick trip, but I am so excited. Thank you to the very handsome guy in the pic above for keeping the crew while I am gone, love you babe.
Please take the time to listen to this sermon by David Platt. April 25th, Father to the Fatherless. Powerful message on the call to care for orphans.

firsts
Adopting a toddler has brought much joy to our household! One of the many blessings is to witness "firsts" in his life- through his eyes. We are continually amazed at this gift we have been given. Most nights we all laugh around the dinner table and thank the Lord for the addition of Eyasu into our crazy crew! He is a crack up.

abe update
Little buddy is working SO hard. Making such great progress these past few weeks. He is just making us so proud. His speech therapist had him pick out a picture from 3 cards this morning and he got 22 out of 25!! Yahoo. He missed dump truck (not sure we have talked about those much with him), school bus (we home school??) and swimming (but as soon as we said "pool" he went striaght for the card!) We were all cheering!
Keep up the great work Abey- we love you so much!

they did it!
They did it!!!!
I am so proud of Moody's patients! They donated over 5,000 of their hard earned wooden nickels to build a well in Ethiopia. Because of their generous spirit- hundreds of Ethiopians will have access to safe, clean drinking water!
Each appointment his patients have the opportunity to earn up to 4 nickels. If they are on time, wear their t-shirt, have good dental hygeine, etc. They can save these nickels to earn various items- Target gift cards, TOMS shoes gift certificate, video games, webkins, spa certificates. Moody wanted to build a well with Charity:Water and give his patients the opportunity to participate if they wanted to- and participate they did! They could place their nickels in a large water jug and forgo getting an item for themselves. Once 5,000 nickels were raised, the office would give a $1 per nickel and pay for the well. He said it was the sweetest sound to be working on a patient and hear the clinck, clinck of nickels being dropped into the jug!
Way to go to everyone that played a part!

our day without shoes
What a great day! We started the day by going to Pantego Christian Academy. Avery's best friend, Abbi, was doing their chapel on TOMS. Abbi wanted to participate in One day without shoes and asked the Principal if that was ok. She wanted to pray about it.....she came back to Abbi and said that she could do it, if she agreed to teach everyone about TOMS during chapel. I love that. Great lesson to be passionate about something, you need to be willing to work. :)
The kids and I walked across a VERY rocky parking lot to get to the school. We are barefoot often and have semi-tough feet and it was PAINFUL. Another great opportunity to think of others that do this daily, often walking hours barefoot to collect water.
Abbi and her friends, Gaby, Bailey and Reagan did an amazing job! We were all so proud. They spoke truth and reminded their classmates to not simply be excited for an opportunity to be in barefeet that day at school, but to really consider the MANY children in the world that simply don't own a pair of shoes. Not owning shoes very often prevents them from attending school.
Abbi shared with the school that her best friend adopting from Ethiopia opened her eyes to so many things. TOMS being one of them. Love this girls heart!
Abbi, Reagan, special guest Pam Mycoskie, Bailey and Gaby! Great job girls.
During lunch we participated in a One day without shoes event. It is always so rewarding to be with like-minded individuals!
Eyasu was a hit!
Avery and Pam- kindred spirits
Moody's staff walked! They are the best.
Someone at the walk wanted to find out how to get one of Eyasu's shirts. Don't you know I loved sharing about 147 million orphans? :)

Easter recap
Pray each of you had a blessed Easter. We enjoyed time with family and friends, and Eyasu hunted his first eggs! Sweet thing grabbed one, it opened, his candy fell down and he spent the next few minutes putting the candy back in the egg while the other kids were running circles around him! :)
I can't post the video, reveals entirely too much of my competive nature! Seriously listening to myself trying to convince him to throw the egg in his basket to get on with the mad dash for MORE is painful........ugg, Lord please continue to prune me and refine my heart! And the boys said they would quit speaking to me because if you were over the age of 8-- you had to SKIP to get your eggs! Good times were had by all!
Annual Easter morning pic before church
Tee and Wick in mid-skip! Melissa in the back knocking kids out of the way to get more candy! :) JK, she generously provided the many eggs.
Hill in full on skip, devised a strategy that allowed him to use both hands apparently!
How precious is this one with his basket of eggs??
Abey and daddy!
