waitlist, Cali, and daddy is coming home!!

The kids and I just got back from a quick trip to California to visit the Thornes. As always, they were incredibly gracious and hospitable.  It was dreamy getting away from the Texas heat.  We had the honor of attending King's adoption finalization, and were bummed we didn't get to see all of our California buddies-- it was a quick trip though, next time. :)

I took this from Pam's blog and it was one of several- I didn't cut her out like it appears. :)

We officially went on the wait list last week for a boy, 1- 3 years old.  It could be quick as according to the unofficial list-- we are at the top of that gender and age.  We just pray for His perfect timing and trust in Him.

Moody should be heading to the airport right about now to hop on a plane headed this way. He gets home tomorrow late afternoon, and we couldn't be more excited to see him.  The Lord has done some amazing things on this trip and we are so thankful for that.

He has supernaturally sustained me as I haven't had a moment of wondering why I agreed to this trip! :)  Thank you to those that prayed, it certainly worked!!

teenager

Hill is 13 today.  I have a teenager.  Surely I'm too young, right?  We are so proud of you and the young man that you have become.  Love you buddy. :)
He made it!  He had a enjoyed his time in Cairo, the lecture went well and he toured the pyramids on a camel!! :)  How much fun.

He is now in Ethiopia, with my favorite people on the planet.  My heart swells just thinking about it.

I am the new biggest cheerleader for Skype.  Love, love it.  Thank you Lori P for making me sign up-- Moody and I have talked several times since he has been gone.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

he is off

That is Moody on our wedding day with one of his best buddies, Brett.  Aren't they precious?  Moody isn't shooting the person next to him, he is "getting his guns up!"  It is a Texas Tech thing.

Brett and Moody were at Tech together and he is one of Moody's very favorite people in the world.  He can make Moody laugh like no one else and he has been a faithful friend through many of lifes ups and downs.  Brett and his precious family live in Hong Kong where he pastors a church there.  We only see them on their trips home and they aren't often enough.

They are passionate about adoption as their four amazing kiddos are adopted, both dometically and internationally.  I remember talking to Shannon after they brought Mary Grace home from China and she said, "you guys really need to do this!!"  I remember thinking, "ok....whatever...no way...but thank you very much!"  I guess she may have planted the very first seed. :)

Brett was asked to speak at a pastors conference in Addis, and he called to see if Moody would consider meeting him there.  Immediately the Lord began making it clear that he was suppose to go.  For starters, I thought it sounded like a great idea.  I thought being left alone for 10 days with 5 kiddos, one that doesn't sleep, sounded like a great idea!  Only the Lord could have done that....so nagging, wife pleading for him not to go was out of the way.

He then got a call from an orthodontic supply company with a request from a group of orthodontists in Cairo, Egypt that were looking for someone to lecture for one day on June 12.  That just so happened to be one day before he was tentatively scheduled to meet Brett in Addis.  They just so happened to pay for him to fly Business Class over there!  So now we really should be saving all of our money for this adoption argument was out of the way.

He wasn't sure what he would do with his time while Brett was teaching.  He knew he couldn't wait to go back to KVI and spend time there, but figured he should try to utilize some of his skills and talents.  He met the head of the dental school while we were in country picking up Abe.  He called him to see if he might need anything, and the ball got rolling.

Moody will lecture to the dental students and then do dental work on kids at KVI and Gladney. He is so excited to see how the Lord is allowing this opportunity.  So many people came on board and donated dental supplies, etc.  He is praying that this is the first of many of these trips.  So what to do with my free time was now out of the way!

I have such an incredible peace about him going.  We are all so jealous as our hearts simply ache to return, but I know that we will soon enough in His perfect timing.

We are planning many activities while he is away and trust that the Lord will indeed continue to supply for our every need here.  We will miss him like crazy-- I have never been away from him for this long, but will love praying for him and seeing how the Lord honors this time.

He is looking forward to meeting several of your kiddos, taking pics and video.  He considers it a gift to be able to that as he remembers well the emotional boost these brought us during the wait to travel.

We would all appreciate your prayers for this trip.

Some of the faces that he will get to see......wish I could show you all of them. :)

approval

It came!  We were on our way to Hill and Wick's baseball tournament yesterday and grabbed the mail.  Moody came walking in with a huge grin, carrying our CIS approval.  I was so excited as it took over 6 weeks last time for it to come and it had only been 2 weeks since we were fingerprinted this time.  Thank you Lord for this gift.

Moody leaves on Wednesday for Ethiopia-- more on that later.

15 years

Moody and I have been married for 15 years today!  Happy Anniversary honey. I am humbled that the Lord chose me for you.  I couldn't imagine doing this crazy ride with anyone else and I look forward to the next 15 plus years with you.  I love you more than you know. :)

feed the forgotten

***taken from Amy Bottomly's blog this morning****(taken from Brandi's blog) :)

Feed The Forgotten.
Too often we hear heartbreaking stories like this and do nothing. We feel helpless. . . and so we move on. Not this time. There are people DYING in Uganda right now. There are children who's bellies are hungry and aching. There are mamas who are too weak to stand and babies begging to be held. There are people trapping termites hoping for food and eating dung in helplessness. DO NOT CAVE TO DESPAIR. YOU CAN DO SOMETHING.

Join us and Children's HopeChest to Feed The Forgotten... (
CLICK HERE to give now) (note: please write FEED THE FORGOTTEN in the notes section)
For $0.14, we can feed someone a meal of posho and beans. (posho is cornmeal, which is filling and beans are protein).
Take that in for a moment. . .

$0.14 a meal

$2.86 for 20 days

$1 per FAMILY

$20 feed a family for 20 days.

How much was my Orange Tree Frozen Yogurt yesterday? How much was Josh's Starbucks? The bigger question is how much am
I willing to give up so that others might eat?

Remember Jesus story of the Good Samaritan? Remember how his very neighbors walked right by him? They probably looked at him with pity. . .probably thought "oh poor guy, that breaks my heart" but the fact is THEY DID NOTHING.

What will you do? These children are starving. . .

Will you help? The money raised will feed those precious children. There are 3 - 4 villages that Hope Chest is targeting (They are hoping for more after they see how much money we can raise!) to bring food relief to asap. These people are literally starving. . and waiting for you to act. Will you help? Even with paypal fees (2-3%) even $1 will feed 6 people! You CAN make a difference.

Spread the word, blog about it, facebook it, twitter it, ask your church or school or business to give, post the blog badge anything. Truly, we are begging you. . .on behalf of these children not to forget this post and move on to the next in your google reader list. Stop, pray, act.
GIVE TO FEED THE FORGOTTEN CHILDREN! (note: please write FEED THE FORGOTTEN in the notes section when you give)
